Caregiver. Mother. Advocate. Inventor.

I’m Lois Brown — wife, mom, grandma, caregiver, author, and the unexpected inventor behind the XTD Pigeon Ecosystem. I didn’t come from engineering or medicine. I came from lived experience, long nights, sudden episodes, and the responsibility of protecting someone medically fragile from the very first day of her life.

Pigeon wasn’t born in a lab. It was born in a hospital room — and then in a home — where caregiving was not optional. It was immediate.

A Life Shaped by Caregiving

I didn’t ease into caregiving — I became one overnight. When Andrea was born with Down Syndrome, the pediatrician on duty told me to put her in a home and forget about her. I was young, he said. I could “have more kids.”

He saw a diagnosis. I saw my daughter.

I chose her. I chose to bring her home. I chose to learn, advocate, protect, and build a life around her needs — not abandon her to someone else’s expectations.

Caregiving wasn’t something I stepped into. It was something I claimed, fiercely and without hesitation, from the very first day.

From that moment forward, caregiving shaped everything — childhood, school, routines, friendships, independence, and the everyday work of raising her.

Then pneumonia changed her lungs, and caregiving took on a new medical dimension.

The Moment the Blind Spot Became Impossible to Ignore

Three months ago, it wasn’t a quiet moment — it was a dramatic one. A sudden respiratory decline that lasted five solid hours. Five hours of watching her numbers fall and rise and fall again. Five hours of repositioning, monitoring, hoping, praying, and trying to interpret every breath.

And the only tool I had was a basic consumer pulse‑ox — a spot‑check device never meant for continuous monitoring, never meant for silent hypoxia, never meant for sleep, never meant for Down Syndrome, never meant for respiratory decline.

No sound. No warning. No alert. Just me — and that pulse‑ox — guessing, reacting, and refusing to look away.

That night changed me. It followed me through the next morning, the next week, the next breath. It made the blind spot feel unbearable, unacceptable, and impossible to ignore.

Caregivers deserve better. Loved ones deserve better. Home deserves better.

That night became the spark — the moment that made the XTD Pigeon Ecosystem not just an idea, but a necessity.

Inventing Without a Blueprint

I had no engineering degree. No technical training. No roadmap.

What I had was lived experience — decades of caregiving, advocacy, vigilance, and the instinct to protect someone who depended on me.

Every component of Pigeon — Feather, Pin Feather, Perch, Nest, Coo, PAM, and Ducket — came from real needs, real challenges, and real moments where safety mattered.

I didn’t invent Pigeon because I wanted to. I invented Pigeon because caregiving demanded it.
